Head Golf Course Superintendent Job

Livingston Country Club, Inc. (LCC), the preeminent semi-private golf club in Livingston County, New York, seeks a head golf course superintendent for the property located at 4436 Lakeville Rd. in Geneseo, NY.

The Livingston Country Club boasts a growing membership of over 150, a robust internal tournament schedule, a dozen external tournaments and nearly 15,000 rounds of golf annually. 

Visitors to LCC come from all corners of the greater Rochester area, Southern Tier and Western New York, as well as those drawn to the area as constituents of nearby SUNY Geneseo.

Livingston Country Club is a proud member of the Rochester District Golf Association, the Women’s Rochester District Golf Association and an annual U.S. Kids Golf tournament site.

Qualifications:

• Preferable 2-year degree or certification in turf management.
• Preferable experience of at least two years as an assistant or head superintendent.
• Valid Driver’s License Required
• Pesticide Application License Required
• Knowledge of maintenance of greens, tees, fairways and rough.
• Knowledge of use and operating standards of equipment and tools used in golf course construction and maintenance work.
• Skill in recruiting, supervising, training, monitoring, evaluating and motivating personnel.
• Interpersonal skill to resolve conflict and work with Board of Directors, employees, members and the general public.
• Knowledge of safe use, mixing and application of chemicals and commercial products.
• Ability to anticipate personnel, equipment, and material requirements related to golf course maintenance and repair assignments.
• Ability and knowledge to lay out irrigation patterns, drainage patterns, construct tees and/or greens.
• Knowledge of the game of golf, golf rules and methods of play.

Responsibilities

• Management of all day-to-day operation and maintenance of the golf course including turf grass/plant material maintenance programs, property/asset management, personnel management, maintenance of tee boxes, fairways, roughs, greens, bunkers and other course landscaping.
• Developing and adhere to an annual budget and work with Greens Chairperson to operate in a fiscally responsible manner.
• Manage the irrigation system operation, maintenance and repair as needed.
• Supervise seasonal support staff and train as needed.
• Maintain course equipment fleet, maintenance, repairs, and supplies as needed.
• Collaborate with the Greens Chairperson and Golf Professional.
• Must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver.
• Recruits, supervises and retains maintenance staff.
• Provides technical, operational and safety training for employees to ensure that staff is working within OSHA, state and federal guidelines for safe working conditions.
• Oversees employees in proper and safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment.
• Plans and budgets for additional or replacement capital equipment.
• Supervises and participates in the application and recording of chemical applications (fertilizers and pesticides) on the Club’s grounds in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

• Annual Salary of $45,000-$50,000 (40 weeks) depending on experience.
